The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT proves that no matter how expensive an SUV may be, customers will buy it.

In the United States, prices for the Cayenne Turbo GT start at $182,150 and while that is an extraordinary sum to spend on an SUV, it does make it roughly $40,000 less than a Lamborghini Urus, all while offering similar levels of performance. So, could it be considered a budget Lamborghini Urus?

To find out, Doug DeMuro recently had the opportunity to test one. As usual, his review focuses predominately on the features of the SUV, rather than the driving experience.

From an exterior perspective, the Cayenne Turbo GT stands out from lesser Cayenne models thanks to a revised front end with enlarged air intakes, distinctive wheels, a carbon fiber rear wing, a secondary lip spoiler on the decklid, and a rear diffuser. There is also a new titanium exhaust system with tailpipes that exit out from the center.

The niceties continue into the cabin where Porsche has adorned many interior surfaces in lush Alcantara, including the centers of the seats, the pillars, dashboard, and the steering wheel. As with other Cayenne models, the Turbo GT lacks some of the physical buttons you may expect for things like the HVAC controls and instead just has touch-sensitive panels for them.

Towards the end of the review, DeMuro actually puts the SUV through its paces and that’s where it really shines thanks to a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that pumps out 631 hp and 626 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque.
