Porsche recently updated the Panamera range, and while no hugely significant upgrades have been made, the range did get a new flagship model.
Dubbed the Panamera Turbo S, it replaces the old Turbo and recently set an executive car lap record at the Nurburgring. A new Turbo S E-Hybrid model is in the works and will likely be even faster, but as it stands, the ‘regular’ Turbo S is the Panamera you want if you’re looking for performance to match the BMW M5 Competition and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S.
Powering the Turbo S is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 producing 621 hp and 605 lb-ft (820 Nm) of torque, an increase of 79 hp and 37 lb-ft (50 Nm) over the previous Panamera Turbo.

Porsche claims the car can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in a mere 3.1 seconds. While recently testing the car, CarWow recorded a best time of 3.3 seconds in the 0-60 mph (96 km/h) sprint, so the official claim seems very plausible.
Of course, the Panamera Turbo S is about much more than straight-line performance. As you would expect, it is very nice to drive and has an extremely luxurious interior. Given the car’s sleek roofline, you could be fooled into thinking it wouldn’t offer much headroom for rear-seat passengers; however, that’s not the case as it actually offers heaps of leg- and headroom.
On a side note, apart from the Turbo S, another new addition to the range is the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid that combines a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 434 hp with a 134 hp electric motor integrated into the eight-speed PDK transmission. This results in a total of 552 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque.
