For years, manufacturers have been trying to convince us that their sports cars weren’t as impractical as they may seem, citing the fact that they could carry a set (or maybe two) of golf clubs. With this in mind, EverydayDriver recently tested out a C8 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible and a Lexus LC 500 Convertible as two sleek, two-door cars that could be perfect for golf enthusiasts.

Before we move any further, it’s worth pointing out that these two cars shouldn’t be regarded as rivals, because they’re not. Sure, they both look very sleek and have convertible tops but the C8 Corvette is more of a dedicated sports car than the Lexus while the LC 500 is better regarded as a grand tourer.

Now, with that being said, the duo do share some similarities. For example, both feature naturally aspirated V8 engines that sound incredible and power the rear wheels. Whereas the Lexus has a 10-speed automatic transmission, the Chevrolet has an eight-speed dual-clutch. The reviewers state that they prefer the dual-clutch of the Corvette although as traditional automatics go, the LC 500’s 10-speed is one of the best.

The reviewers tested out the two cars on a beautiful road in Utah and immediately, it is quite clear that they prefer the way the Corvette drives. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the C8 is a proper mid-engined sports car that places driver involvement at the top of its priorities. By comparison, they suggest that the Lexus feels a little lazy, but from our experience of the LC 500, we think it fits the description of a luxurious GT absolutely perfectly.
