Koenigsegg knows exactly what its customers want and in addition to demanding insane levels of performance, they also like technology, as Doug DeMuro recently discovered in a review of the hybrid Regera.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the Regera are its doors and more specifically, the way that the doors open. Rather than using a traditional door handles, the doors of the Regera are operated with a touch of the key fob. When pressed, the car first rolls down the window before the door pops out and slides open. What’s more, even the carbon fiber wing mirror folds away so it doesn’t stick out too far. The doors are also equipped with sensors that ensure they won’t ram into a curb.

DeMuro then discusses the interior of the Regera. He notes that it certainly feels more luxurious than other Koenigsegg models and is particularly impressed with the inclusion of a 360-degree camera that provides a birds-eye view of the Regera to help with parking. What’s also intriguing is the fact that the infotainment screen is used to control things like the headlights and to adjust the angle of the wing mirrors.
Towards the end of the video, DeMuro takes the hybrid Koenigsegg out onto the street. Powering the Regera is a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 that works alongside three electric motors to produce a combined 1,500 hp and 1,475 lb-ft (2,000 Nm) of torque. While impressed with the car’s speed, DeMuro admits that he isn’t convinced with the Regera just using a single gear as opposed to a traditional transmission.
