The Chevrolet Silverado is one of the best-selling trucks in the U.S. market, but given that full-size pickup trucks enjoy this amount of popularity mostly in North America, it’s always interesting to see what an outsider thinks of them.

Matt Watson of Carwow went from the UK to the US to review a few cars, including this Chevrolet Silverado Z71 Trail Boss.

The Z71 Trail Boss variant of the Silverado 1500 comes fitted with a 2-inch suspension lift, a locking rear differential, Rancho monotube shocks, an Autotrack 2-speed transfer case, skid plates, hill descent control and 18-inch black alloy wheels shod in off-road tires, among other.

Chevrolet offers the following powertrain options to customers: a 285 HP 4.3-liter V6, a 355 HP 5.3-liter V8, a 310 HP 2.7-liter inline-four and a 420 HP 6.2-liter V8, while there’s also a 3.0-liter straight-six diesel option offering 277 HP and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque. Depending on the engine, you get either a six-, eight- or a ten-speed automatic transmission. The latest Chevrolet Silverado is also offered in three bodystyles, namely Regular Cab, Double Cab and Crew Cab.

Stepping inside the Silverado, things can get a little odd for this British reviewer, especially with the chunky steering column-mounted shifter Chevrolet is using, as well as with some of the ergonomics. Material quality is patchy in places too, with hard plastic covering most of the areas.

Despite some of the shortcomings however, there’s no denying that the Chevrolet Silverado is very practical and capable, especially in this edition, and also offers great value for money.
