If you want a big Cadillac SUV and don’t like the Escalade, your only option is the XT6. It slots above the XT4 and XT5, and is bigger than a BMW X5. At just under $53,000, it’s about $6,000 more affordable, too, but it does have some glaring faults too.
As KelleyBlueBook’s review points out, the interior build quality is definitely not on par with a Bimmer, a Benz or an Audi. Cadillac’s big 3-row SUV has some sizable gaps right where certain parts come together, several scratchy plastics and a few other annoying things that do not do justice to the brand’s luxury status.
On the plus side, taller occupants will feel comfortable at the front and on the second row. Also, no gadgets, keys, wallets and snacks will be loose in the cabin, as the XT6 offers a lot of storage spaces. Boot capacity is not bad either, with 12.6 cu-ft (357 liters) behind the third row, with an underfloor storage area, 43.1 cu-ft (1,220 liters) with the third row folded down, and a massive 78.7 cu-ft (2,229 liters) behind the front seats.

Cadillac is offering the XT6 in two versions, the Premium Luxury and Sport, which are both powered by a 3.6-liter V6 that puts out 310 HP (314 PS / 231 kW) and 271 lb-ft (367 Nm) of torque. That’s enough power to make it feel agile, especially in the Sport driving mode, but you’ll constantly have to fight torque steer if you decide to put it into Tour to disengage the AWD in order to save fuel. Also, the lack of steering feedback won’t encourage drivers to go wild on twisty mountain roads.
