If you didn’t know fourth-generation Toyota Supras are hot items among automotive enthusiasts, you’re probably out of the loop or living under a rock. When an A80 Toyota Supra Turbo hit the auction block at Barrett-Jackson’s Northeast auction this year, it sold for a staggering $176,000. Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction has another well-kept and highly desirable example hitting the auction block, and it too could sell for big bucks as Supra values continue to rise.

Like the last 15th Anniversary Edition that sold, the 1997 Toyota Supra Turbo up for grabs in Las Vegas is black and has the removable roof panels. Based on the photos, this example only has 62,527 miles, which makes it even more desirable. Under the hood is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo I-6 with 320 hp and 315 lb-ft of torque paired to a six-speed manual transmission. According to Barrett-Jackson, this example is completely stock and even has the polished wheels from the factory.

The Toyota Supra MK4 became an automotive icon partly due to The Fast and the Furious films. It was even one of the star vehicles in the first one. With the arrival of the fifth-generation A90 Supra, which was the result of a collaboration between Toyota and BMW, values of the fourth-generation Supra have skyrocketed, particularly examples equipped with a manual transmission. Its engine, the 2JZ-GTE I-6, has gained cult status for its ease of modification, allowing tuners to extract 1,000 hp without many changes to the motor’s internals.

The 12th annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas sale roars into Sin City with more than 650 collector cars October 3-5, 2019, at the Mandalay Bay Casino and Resort. Every lot this year will be offered with no reserve, so you can expect excitement to be high as both bidders and sellers roll the dice on some of the world’s finest collector cars.
